Simcha On The Side

“In what will surely go down in history as one the greatest architectural blunders, the town of Benidorm in Alicante, Spain, had almost completed its 47-story skyscraper when it realized it excluded plans for elevator shafts.
“Despite its name, the InTempo skyscraper was seemingly rushed through the blueprint process, and its attempted message of prosperity [during] the country’s economic tumult has become one that is more fitting to the current state of things in Spain as a whole.”
Well, at least that’s what readers of the Daily News were led to believe in 2013. Fake news was published before it was even fashionable! (In fact, it has been reported that the building was made with 11 elevators, and the story was based on another article that had mistranslated a Spanish-language newspaper article about the building.) It is printed here as an example (albeit a fake one) of making an obvious omission affecting the use of one’s property. Our daf discusses a blunder along the same lines. One purchased a property but there is no way for him to access it! It could be the halachah will save him, as we shall see.
